What if I said you would NEVER have to Sort your Laundry Basket into Washing Loads Again?
This is one of my all time favourite hacks – it has meant instead of drowning in piles of washing and constantly having to empty the whole basket to separate the washing we have a super simple system that means washing is pre-sorted and pretty much does itself.
What I love about the system is I no longer stress about R doing the washing and putting my woollens on a hot wash! Actually … that’s not true – what I love the most is that R does the washing just as much as I do now because there is no pre-sorting needed!
Plus as everything is pre-sorted in a basket it can be grabbed on the way past and brought back up folded and ready to go away.
The system is super cheap and super easy too …
Plus it’s an IKEA hack – & who doesn’t love one of those?!

The idea came when I saw one of these in a shop and then regretted not getting it … Now I am so chuffed I didn’t!
One of the things I have come to realise is that anything that saves me a few minutes each day adds up. Since becoming a Mum I have become passionate about getting our house to run on systems in the background so we are making the most of our time together and this is a trick I have shared with so many of my friends and everyone is a fan.
So, what is this wonder trick?
It’s none other than a good old Ikea Kallax and we sort washing as we take it off into each basket.
As soon as a basket is full it is taken down and washed. Not only does this means that it’s easy to see when there is a full load waiting – it also means if either of us fill it up we can take it down to the machine straight away. I have ours on the landing outside the family bathroom which is where the kids get ready for bath and at the ages of 4 & 2 they are already sorting their washing as it comes off – saving me even more time!
It doubles up as a hall table
Can be personalised to your colour scheme – either using the IKEA boxes or baskets.
As long as each family member understands the colour coding you can apply whichever wash types you need / regularly do – so many of my clothes are wool wash only so it made sense for us to split the wash this way.
Gets rid of unsightly overflowing washing baskets – guests literally walk past having no idea that’s what it is.
So there it is my current favourite laundry hack for getting the washing done!

Hope you like this hack as much as I do!
